Haitian Standard Time
Haitian Standard Time is when you act like the clock doesn’t exist and show up whenever you feel like it. If a party says 4, you probably arrive at 5 or 5:45 because you’re too busy being late and arguing with your family.
The church service started at 11, but I showed up at 12 because I had to stop and eat a whole plate of fried plantains.
The birthday party was at 6, but I showed up at 7 because I had to argue with my brother about who got the last slice of cake.
The wedding was at 1, but I showed up at 2 because I had to stop and watch my favorite soap opera.
