paddy's law
A rule that says any Reddit thread big enough will get some American who acts like they're Irish just to seem cooler. They claim to be Irish even if they've never been near the country and have no idea what a Paddy is.
'I'm Irish, obviously,' says the guy who's never been to Dublin.
'I'm 100% Irish, I just don't like the English,' says the man who's never heard of the Irish Potato Famine.
They're Irish, they swear, even though they're from Ohio and have never eaten a soda bread.
